Please tell me I’m not the only one who's "accidentally" taken a break from social media that lasted way longer than planned.
Sunscreen? Check.
Cute new swimsuit for the pool? Check.
Tripod, ring light, and b-roll shot list for content creation? (Crickets...)
I was living “the dream” as a business owner.
I had the flexibility and the freedom. I felt fulfilled with my work and the women I was helping. It was all happening!
But all I could think about was how much I was over creating content for my business on social media.
(Yes. This is a true story. Even social media managers get exhausted by social media.)
As a business owner, social media is critical for staying top of mind with warm leads and for attracting new clients into your audience.
Social media is also tiring due to its fast pace.
And... there are other ways for you to grow your audience and convert clients that don’t require you to bring your tripod on vacation to shoot b-roll content.
When I notice myself getting tired of social media, I force myself to get off social media.
It sounds counterintuitive but hear me out!
You NEED get out there and be present with your life so your creativity cup can be filled again.
In the perfect scenario, it'd be a cute little 48-hour reset.
But I'm not going to preach what I don't practice.
Sometimes? I'll fully unplug for weeks. Or even months.
I'll treat myself to a hot chocolate at the cute coffee shop in town. I'll start a new cozy game. I’ll browse the aisles of T.J. Maxx for new office decor that inspires me. (I found the CUTEST post-its in my brand colors recently).
Once I’m feeling less burnt out, I’ll start dabbling with other marketing channels that don’t have as many tasks as content creation.
Writing my email newsletter usually does the trick. I can write what’s on my mind and share a relatable story without having to worry about the catchiest hook or having good lighting.
(Also, stay tuned for the next email newsletter because I’ll be breaking down why email marketing works hand-in-hand with social media marketing!).
And then, I dip my toe into the easiest form of content creation there is.
A good, old-fashioned b-roll video with text on-screen.
(You can see the perfect example here!).
Of course there IS a shortcut to all this.
You *could* hire a social media manager to take care of content creation and social media for you.
Then you’d never have to worry about how to get yourself out of a social media funk again 😉.
If that sounds lovely, let's chat.
